Brandon Routh stars as Dylan Dog, a human paranormal investigator living in New Orleans who’s on a crusade to keep the supernatural creatures of the night shadows in line.
"Dylan Dog" is an Italian comic, but it is quite popular around the world. Dylan Dog has a “No Pulse - No Problem” attitude and will be Routh's third comic book-inspired role —he starred as Clark Kent, aka Superman, in Superman Returns, and had a supporting role as Todd Ingram in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World—and director Munroe has had nothing but praise for his portrayal of the character:
Dylan Dog is a character that brilliantly mixes charisma, affability, and hard-driven principles. I couldn’t be happier with Brandon’s portrayal—he meshed all of those aspects into a charming action hero, funny as he was ass-kicking. I can’t wait to share his work with the world.
In a statement to the press Routh explained why he thought Sclavi's stories offer themes that a global audience can identify with. "There's a lot of great humor elements as well as the action and the horror and the romance. All things which translate really well to our side of the globe."
Dylan Dog: Dead of Night was first announced way back in 2008, and now it's finally on the verge of arriving in theaters. The Kevin Munroe-directed adaptation of Tiziano Sclavi's comic book series "Dylan Dog" also stars Sam Huntington, Taye Diggs, and Anita Briem, and is set now for a wide theatrical release in the United States on April 29.
